of Paddy, the fastest swimmer on the island of Tasmania. He is so fast that Sir
Hugh Tidybrooke, the head of the Department of Waterways, Foreign Affairs and
Underground Railways convinces Paddy that he should go with him to the United
States and enter the swimming championships in Los Angeles. Paddy wins all the
races he enters but is frustrated with the hubbub of activity in the big city.
He doesn’t enjoy his sudden fame - reporters harass him, bellboys try to take
his traveling kit, and his life is turned upside down. In the final championship
ocean race, he surprises everyone when he keeps on going and swims all the way
home to Tasmania and peace.
Author Bio:
Tom de Paolo was born in Hollywood, Californis. He studied Cinema at the University of Southern California, he joined the Air Force and served with a movie crew documenting World War II. He also worked in the television industry. He is currently retired and enjoys writing and playing golf.

The Amazing Adventures of Paddy Platypus is a delightful story about a very talented Platypus. Discovering Paddy's amazing gift of swimming, he is easily recruited to swim in a big race. Though Paddy wins races left and right, he doesn't like the fame that comes with it. Tom de Paolo creates some very good lessons readers of all ages can learn from. Children from the ages of 8 and up will enjoy Paddy's adventure to the United States and the lessons he learns there.
